THANKS TO ALL SPONSORS, DONORS, PARTICIPANTS…

This may be our organization's most challenging and successful undertaking yet, an indigenous 3-mile family run/walk within the African community to raise Breast Cancer Awareness. The PinkWalk featured a "3 Mile run/walk” at the secured Pinckneyville Community Park in Norcross, Georgia on Saturday May 5, 2007. On that brisk Atlanta morning, supporters who recognize the significance of our cause came out with family and friends (including children, ages five to adolescence), to participate in the walk and other activities. With about 50 participants, registering for a minimal fee of $10 each, or $30/family of four, we grossed over $1,500 - 100% of proceeds benefits La Femme Africaine's programs and administration.

To encourage participants and foster goodwill, activities included warm up exercise - led by volunteers Bayo Idowu and Valerie Lloyd of African Network LLC, 3-mile walk, continental breakfast, recognition, and post walk “shake down” with pulsating African music supplied by DJ Majesty. With the help of our generous sponsors, participants walked away with souvenir giveaways such as writing pads, pencils, breast cancer pins, and confectionaries. Also, a commemorative PinkWalk t-shirt funded by presenting sponsor Nalley BMW and designed by ChavezGraphics.com was distributed to each PinkWalk participant at the end of the walk.

The PinkWalk is an absolute necessity within our community to ensure "we walk the walk, as we talk the talk". Research has indicated physical activity is one of the ways to promote good health and help reduce cancer occurrence. The run/walk is open to all people of all races in support of fostering breast cancer awareness; this is our only program that incorporates the entire family participating in an activity that promotes well being.
